Itchy Scalp, Dandruff - Ayurveda help?

 My son is 16, recently started using conditioner after hair bath. now he has dandruff like scales on scalp which are not dry. it is very itchy and sticky but goes off when he takes hair bath, forms again after 2 or 3 days. is this dandruff and how to treat it? - Question from www.health.sify.com

Yes, Wet scalp will lead to dandruff. Please make sure the scalp is properly dried. Application of Dhordoorapatradi coconut oil helps improves the hair structure and reduces the dandruff formation. Weekly once external application / head pack of amla powder with fresh curd and fresh lemon juice improves the condition in no time. 

Vitamin K and Vitamin B deficiencies often contributes to dandruff issues try boosting your consumption through diet. he foods highest in Vitamin K are green, leafy vegetables such as kale, collard greens, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, spinach, parsley, asparagus, lettuce, endive, okra, and mustard greens. Exactly how much of the nutrient is present in each serving depends on the exact type of vegetable and how it is prepared. 

Shirodhara using Jasmine leaves, wheatgrass juice, aloe vera juice with 1 lemon juice added with one liter cold water ( 25ml juice of each items). Well filtered once in a day preferably at night will certainly reduced the problem.

•Grind Kattu Seeragam (Vernonia anthelminticum) with lime juice and apply on the head and wash your hair after half an hour. 

•Apply Dhoordhoorapathradi coconut oil on the scalp gently massage with fingers in a circular motion so that the oil gets absorbed into the scalp gradually, leave for an 30 minutes then take head bath. 

•Boil 20 g Triphala powder in water, cool and rinse hair with it. 

•Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight in water to soften the seeds and grind it in the morning to make paste , apply this paste on scalp leave it for half an hour. 

•Use mild herbal shampoo or Shikai powder for hair wash. 

To Prevent: 

•It is important to keep the hair and scalp clean to minimize the accumulation of dead cells. This can be done by washing the hair regularly. 

•While taking a hair wash, rinse the hair thoroughly. 

•keep separate hair brush or comb. 

•Take healthy greens and foods rich in proteins and iron. Also, drinking enough water helps to cleanse the system and eliminate the root cause of dandruff. 

•Follow proper medication ,diet and yoga.
